Why does it always seem that the weather forecast for Wednesdays even a week before always seems to be rain, showers or possible storms and then when the day comes along, it's wrong? I have to give applause to the die hard racers who show up week after week to support the street programs.
Prospective racers need to know, one does not need to be a points members in any of the classes to join in and race. There is a trophy class for the beginning bracket racer to put their foot on the gas for some fun competition as well as a street stick class for those with the standard transmission who wish to have some equal shifting competition. There is the motorcycle class made up of new racers and veteran racers. Then there is the Sportsman class which is a bracket racing class that the top points earners can earn a spot to represent Lebanon Valley Dragway at the bracket finals in September.
Now onto acknowledging the latest race winner from the May 22, 2024 race night in Sportsman Eliminator. Billy Kirpens Jr. of Pittsfield, MA visited the winner's circle when he defeated Paul Lattarulo of South Windsor, CT in the final. Ed Martelli of Schenectady, NY finished in the semi-finals.
In Street Stick it was Marc Faucher, of Cheshire, MA defeated Dan Murphy of Oxford, CT in the final. Vince Berzal of Saugerties, NY finished in the semi-finals.
In the Pure Street Motorcycle class, Bob Bradley took top honors when he defeated Chris Cunningham of Nassau, NY. Larry Hoyt, Jr of Elizaville, NY finished in the semi-finals.
