On Saturday, July 26, 2024, the sun was out and the track was great giving way to a great showdown with the Northeast Old Drag Racers and Musclecar Association (NODRAMA) group and some close side by side drag racing in the quarter mile gamblers races. There was some preparation and testing and tuning of some Imports who were getting ready for the Import Face-Off which was coming to the Valley on Sunday.
And the report from Jason Heintz on the NODRAMA Race, "Here we go again NODRAMA fans! A perfect summer Saturday race day at LVD and, a 2nd best of all-time showing of 43 on the ladder. It's mid-season GO TIME.
With a packed board, a 6-rounder was ahead. Time to put in the work, and the work was put in by two strong NODRAMA veterans quietly making their way up the leader board as of late. Meeting up in the finals was event #5 winner Kevin "Just Kevin" O'Brien matched up against Wild Bill Smith. After finally cracking into the top 10 last race, coming out on top this time, Bill Smith defeated Kevin O'Brien to take the NODRAMA event #6 Win.
With his first win of the 2024 season, Bill Smith jumped another 4 spots, now cracking into the Top5. A super rare for 2024 early exit by Ritchie Evan DeGraff in his super consistent Dodge Demon, opened the door for Kevin's back to back deep round days to overtake the NODRAMA Young Gun for the top spot. We have a new man on top of the NODRAMA Mountain, and he is firing on all cylinders mid season. Watch out folks, there's some heavy hitting MOPARs at the top... There's definitely going to be some Demon on Duster crime ahead for sure.
NODRAMA has a long break ahead and return for event #7 on August 17th. See you there!"
On the Gambler Races side of the day, the electronics final was set up between father and daughter duo of Grant Nichols Sr. of Marlborough, CT and Jenna Nichols. Dad taught the daughter a few things when he took the win for the day. Stephen Pray of Berlin, CT finished his day in the semi-finals.
In the non-electronic final, Kyle Armstrong of Hartrord, NY defeated Nicholas Merryman of Feeding Hills, MA. Derek Lobban of Rensselaer, NY, driving the truck owned by Ned Mitchum finished his day in the semi-finals.l
