Final Wednesday Street Series Points Event in the Books, 2023 Champions Crowned

Kevin Manchester's mascot show's off his hardware for his runner-up finish.

On the final night of points on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in the Street and Sportsman Series, series champions were crowned and the last five remaining places on the Lebanon Valley bracket finals team were confirmed.

Nelson Belot, Jr. of Dalton, MA took the win in Sportsman ET when he defeated Joe Coss of Burlington, CT. Stephen Trembley of Ludlow, MA and Louis Hahn of Canaan, NY lost in the semi-finals.

The current points leader, Billy Kirpens, Jr. was not in attendance nor was his father, Billy Kirpens, Sr. Our sincerest condolences to the family in the passing of wife/mother, Mrs. Anne Kirpens.

In a show of family and sportsmanship, Nelson Belot, Jr. raced under an unregistered number in the points, which would mean that he would not receive any points for the night. Nelson was in second place in the points, 11 points away from number 1 which was held by Billy Kirpens Jr.. Out of respect, Nelson chose to race the night with the number 78 which was representative of a number from 178, Steve Larochelle, a racer at the speedway and friend who recently tragically passed, giving up whatever points he would earn and allowed the championship to be claimed by Billy Kirpens, Jr.
