Double Nichols in the Winner's Circle on the Sunday, June 23 Summit ET Points Race


Sunday, June 23, 2024 was a mirror of Saturday with the weather forecast of rain and thunderstorms. For those who braved the forecast, they found out that they were misinformed and the rain held off for the entire day allowing for another completed day of racing. So onward the day went which was sponsored by Belot Auto with a memorial dedication to Ann Kirpens with a moment of silence and the sharing of memories.


Super Pro was won by Grant Nichols, Sr. of Marlborough, CT when he defeated Mark Beaton of Torrington, CT. Keith Lauzier of Winsted, CT and Kevin Billetts Jr of Rensselaer, NY finished their day in the semi-finals.


Pro Eliminator was won by the son of Grant Nichols, Sr., Grant (LG) Nichols, Jr. of East Hampton, CT giving the family a great opportunity for a family photo in the winner's circle, when he defeated Bob Stockwell of Avon, CT. Anthony Johnson of Schenectady, NY finished his day in the semi-final, driving the Mercury Marauder of Joe Marino.


Matt Gazaille of Putnam, CT defeated Jonathan Tisdale of Napanoch, NY in the fianl of Motorcycle/Sled Eliminator. Adam Sheran of Blandford, MA finished in the semi-finals.


Mason Spinelli of Latham, NY defeated Giuseppe Porfilio of East Longmeadow, MA in the final of Junior Dragsters. Dayton Cocchiaro of Wallingford, CT and Mick Hawkins of Albany, NY finished their day in the semi-finals.


Haley Powers of Hampden, MA defeated Juleyen Laughran-Carter of Bernardston, MA in the final of Junior Street. Gavin Russo of Norfolk, CT finished his day in the semi-finals.


Steven Leclair of North Smithfield, RI was the winner of Open Trophy when he defeated Mike Calicchia of Wappingers Falls, NY in the final. Jeff Andrews of Pittsfield, MA finished his day in the semi-finals.


As a reminder to all those who leave their campers, motorhomes, car haulers and cars at the dragway, they must be removed from the pit area by the end of racing on Sunday, June 30 or they will be moved for you. They may be returned to the pit area after Monday, July 8th. Also, there will be no racing or test and tune on Wednesday, July 3. Have a safe Fourth of July!
