As the clock ticks down toward the end of the points season to determine the teams for the NHRA Division 1 Bracket Finals in September, not only is weather heating up, but the racing has as well. It was great to see some first time winners on Sunday, July 14, 2024 as well as some flip flops from runner up one day to a winner the next. Special races were held in the Top Sportsman/Top Dragster category as well as the continuation of the All-Star Super Stock/Stock race which was held over from a couple of weeks ago due to a rain delay after first round.
In Super Pro, Mike Marvin of Colchester, CT took top honors when he defeated Wally Zalak of Huntington, NY in the final. George Foster of Cortlandt Manor, NY and Bill Thiel of Oakdale, CT finished their day in the semi-finals.
Pro Eliminator competitor Brian Ouilette of Schenectady, NY who finished as the runner up in the Port-A-Tree non-electronics race on Saturday found the top spot on Sunday when he defeated Michael Scribani of Howes Caves, NY. Pete Bushnell of Manchester, CT finished his day in the semi-finals.
Matt Gazaille of Putnam, CT defeated Jeff Tisdale of Glastonbury, CT in the final of Motorcycle/Sled ET. Adam Sheran of Blandford, MA and David Ferguson of Newburgh, NY finished in the semi-finals.
Riley Coles of Methuen, MA defeated Ava Eckert of Wallingford, CT in the final of Junior Dragsters. Nevaeh Spring of Wethersfield, CT finished her day in the semi-finals.
William Harper of Brimfield, MA defeated Juleyen Laughran-Carter of Bernardston, MA in the final of Junior Street. John Couture of Ellington, CT finished his day in the semi-finals.
Brennan Cunningham of North Haven, CT defeatd John Costello of West Hartford, CT in the final of Open Trophy. Chuck Geroux of Greenwich, NY and Tori Lin of North Reading, MA finished in the semi-finals.
Gregg Sutherland of Chicopee, MA who was the runner-up in Saturday's ASRA race, took top honors in Sunday's ASRA race when he defeated George Mirza of North Attleboro, MA in the final Bob Broadbent of Hampton, NH finished his day in the semi-finals.
Grant Nichols of Marlborough, CT defeated Jamie Dymond of Kerhonkson NY in the final of the Top Sportsman/Top Dragster race. Wil Beach of Patterson, NY finished his day in the semi-finals.
