A Letter From Lebanon Valley Dragway

First and foremost, we hope that all of our racing family, friends, racers, sponsors and fans are in good health. We understand that dealing with the government mandated shutdowns and not being able to race has been frustrating for you. It has been for us as well.

Over the past few weeks, rather than defy current mandates and take our chances, we have been working with state and local government officials to plead our case on being able to reopen our racing facilities to the Governor’s office along with Empire State Development. We are devising individual plans for each of our tracks that will be compliant with social distance guidelines in the event we will be able to open with restrictions and proper safety measures in place. Our goal is to first open the Dragway, and then have our various Speedways follow suit. We hope that everyone, including our county residents, understand that we are being responsible in the way we are approaching these matters, and have everyone’s health and safety in mind. Should we be granted limited operational authority, know that it was done legally and in cooperation with the powers that be.

Our efforts have attracted an increasing amount of media attention as of late. A local paper, The Register-Star will be publishing an article shortly. Auto Area Racing News put out an article today after speaking with Howard Commander. You can find the article in our press release here and on our Facebook page.

Rest assured, once we have heard of a decision, we will make another announcement. In the meantime, we will continue to adjust our current schedule accordingly. We would like to extend a big thank you to our various event promoters for working with us to reschedule your events during this crisis. Let’s hope for the best.

Stay safe and well!
